WRITE A LETTER OF APPRECIATIONby
Tania Hagan
Writing a letter of appreciation to the employer of a retail or service worker is an excellent way to commend the unexpected extra efforts of that employee. Possibly, a cashier offered you a smile in the middle of a dreary week. Maybe, a sales clerk went out of the way to find an item you simply could not locate. Too often, superior service from a retail employee is unrecognized and unrewarded. While dissatisfied customers are quick to complain, few happy customers take the time to offer praise. Since thousands of people are employed by large retailers, the good deeds of one stand-out employee might be overlooked by the company. Appreciation letters, written by satisfied customers, are frequently the primary source of recognition for these outstanding employees. Letters of appreciation do not have to be complicated. In fact, a lot of retailers have websites which offer convenient online customer-feedback forms.
